OptiDrill, a three-year initiative from January 2021 to December 2024, is funded by the European Commission’s Climate, Infrastructure, and Environmental Executive Agency (CINEA) under the Horizon 2020 program. The consortium comprises 11 partner organisations, featuring top-tier drillers, project managers, engineers, and operators. Each member brings unique yet complementary expertise across various geological conditions, operating parameters, and production goals. The project’s core aim is to develop an advanced drilling advisory system. This system leverages novel sensor technology and machine learning methods to predict ROP, lithology, drilling issues, well completion, and enhancement. Ultimately, these methods will be integrated into a unified system, optimising the drilling process and enabling intelligent decision-making.
